Maurice Stucke Discusses Algorithmic Collusion at UCI

Prof. Stucke presented his article The Role of Secondary Algorithmic Tacit Collusion in Achieving Market Alignment on October 6 at the University of California, Irvine’s conference, “Antitrust Law and Artificial Intelligence.” The article, which he co-authored with Ariel Ezrachi, builds on their earlier work on algorithmic collusion, looking at, among other things, the recent antitrust lawsuits against RealPage and Yardi. Those cases arose from a ProPublica article, Rent Going Up? One Company’s Algorithm Could Be Why that relies on their work.

All of these antitrust cases were transferred in 2023 to the Middle District of Tennessee for coordinated pretrial proceedings.

Vanderbilt Journal of Entertainment and Technology Law will publish their article, a draft of which is available at https://ssrn.com/abstract=4546889.
